A promising start for this new fantasy series for children , although the main premise of a young protagonist leaving home to start an adventure at a school for magic is not new. It does have echoes of Harry Potter and a few similarities, but the opening chapters are full of detail regarding this new world and I am sure that many young readers will be entranced .
