Eleven year old Ella has been given a great honour, she has been chosen to be the first at the Arcanum academy, a prestigious magic school.
She struggles to fit in but finds support from one or two students and her teacher Masterji Thakur.
But then the Ace of anarchy flees prison with help from a conjuror and Ella's teacher has gone missing.
So with her in the frame she has to work fast to find them and clear her name.
An inventive YA fantasy. Very close in description to the Harry Potter franchise and as a book set that sparked my love if reading from an early age, this is also very appealing to me. The similarities just from reading the blurb are extremely strong and I would love to read the book in full to do a proper comparison between the two authors and their style of writing. This would be a great addition to my boom collection and add to my fantasy shelf.
