I had so much fun reading this book. It was the perfect balance of magical and mystery, wrapped in some wholesome friendships and some adventure.

I absolutely loved the “headstrongness” of the main character Ella. Despite being the outsider and knowing that a misstep would only add to the negative feelings about her, she always followed her gut and did what was right.
I loved that she did not use other characters past actions as a reason to not do the wrong thing and helped them regardless of what they had done in the past.

I would have loved to have gotten a bit more background of her family and how they were involved in past events but maybe that is coming in the second book? I feel like we definitely needed more development there.

The “plot twist” lost me because I had to flick back through the book to remind myself who it was so that didn’t hit as hard as it could have

Overall though, a thoroughly enjoyable book
