This book was so fun and I think perfectly written for its target audience. The world is vivid and visual. I loved the style of the writing with the mixed media with the notes and newspapers articles littered throughout. The plot was very fast and as an adult I would have personally enjoyed some more plot detail and less strands, there was perhaps slightly too many things going on for me. However I can see that for middle grade then this plot style would be excellent as it was super fast and captivating. The characters are very true to age which I feel can be hard to achieve but they were acting like children of their age would. I love the friendships between Ella, Brigit and Jason they all help and love each other so much its very heartwarming. The story is so fun and has set up for the next books in the series and I am for sure going to pick up the next books to find out what happens next! There were so many hints of characters and plots that we didn't find much about so it's an amazing set up. Overall I loved this book and would recommend for lovers of middle grade and magical worlds!
