I was super excited about receiving a copy of this book because it sounded like it was going to be on mad, magical journey. It felt like the next generation Harry Potter; the next round of magical characters and thrilling backgrounds.
First of all, I really did love the characters, especially the protagonist. She’s got real guts about her and I can see the target audience absolutely falling in love with her and championing her all the way. I also found that she was developed quite well and found that I was keen to know what was going to happen to her and what was coming next in the story.
The additional parts (illustrations, map at the beginning etc) really did add to the story and I found that they were linked very well. They served a purpose rather than just being there for the sake of it.
