A well worked out plot

At first glance the book cover draws the eye with the striking mayfly image and the three line summary suggests an intriguing plot.

You are drawn to the main character, Priest straight from the start and realise that he has the requisite difficult past to deal with but it's only on completeing the book that you begin to understand this complex charcter.

This was a convoluted but well thought out plot but for me it could have moved along a bit faster. It was starting to frustrate me somewhere in the middle of the book that there were lots of different events that didn't seem to be leading anywhere. The jumping backwards and forwards time-line didn't help this.

I felt that overall everything was tied in sufficiently well at the end to make it worthwhile reading on but I'm not sure I would rush to read the next Priest story.
