I get the impression that there is something creepy about the manse that two half sisters have just gone to live in, Ailsa and Carrie. It sounds like a creepy old building. Character development is good and you get a sense that Ailsa doesn't really want to be in the house and is there through no choice of her own. We are introduced to Jonathan who turns up randomly in the night, apparently looking for his sister, not knowing the house was occupied. This isn't my normal type of book, but I would read on to find out what happens to Ailsa and Carrie.
