The writing style is quite descriptive and flows really well with the story. The cover actually matches the story and looks beautiful and interesting.
It is obvious from the very beginning, that the main character, Ailsa, has a lot of background and we can tell that her personality and mind set determine some of her actions.
However, I’m not sure if the manor ‘looming’ over and ‘watching’ her was literal or a metaphor. I think it is a metaphor because the manor ‘watching’ her has probably ‘watched’ Ailsa grow up. This ties in with Ailsa’s strong feeling that something is missing from her past, but she does not know what.
So far, her half sister and neighbour seem to be quite involved in the story. The characters are very likeable, but they still have their flaws which means they are realistic.
I feel like this novel will have many plot twists and dark turns.
