This is Lexie Elliott’s second novel.
It’s based in the Scottish Highlands where Ailsa Calder has inherited half a house from her deceased mother. Unfortunately the other half now belongs to Ailsa’s father who disappeared twenty seven years ago so she can do nothing about selling the creepy old manse and settling her mother’s estate. She comes to stay at the house with her half sister and weird things start to happen. Intruders, banging doors, open windows, animal corpses on the steps and she notices that no live animals will willingly enter the house or garden.
The book is reasonably well written and the plot mostly carries you along except in the middle chapters.
I can recommend this book and look forward to reading future novels from this author.
