A great thriller
I really enjoyed this book - it was creepy, atmospheric and a real page turner.
The basic plot is that Ailsa Calder moves back to her family house - The Manse - with her half sister Carrie following the death of her mother. Her father had disappeared 27 years earlier without a trace.
The Manse is creepy, and lots of unexplained things happen. Throughout the story Ailsa is trying to unravel her memories of living at The Manse as a child as well as work out what happened to her father.
She meets a lot of interesting characters and almost inherits an instant circle of friends with their various hang-ups.
It was incredibly well written, and the characters were mostly believable. There was, for me an unexpected twist at the end which just kept me reading.
