I was hooked from the first page.
The book tells the story of Ailsa Calder. After her mother dies, she inherits half of a house with the other half belonging to her missing father preventing her from being able to sell it.
So anyway, with the new house, Alicia moves from London to Scotland along side her half sister who she isn't overly close to.
From the moment she moves in, the gothic building makes her feel uneasy - constantly paranoid she's being watched.
The book is a mystery constantly unveiling. Gothic and creepy and constantly making you want to read on.
My criticism would be that having a Scottish accent, at times it didnt necessarily flow and felt slightly forced/unnatural.
Other than that though, this was a great read
