This book was fantastic. It was really eerie and haunting in parts. This book is about Ailsa who has inherited half a house in the Scottish highlands called The Manse. The other half belongs to her father that disappeared 27 years ago. Ailsa leaves London behind and goes to the house with her half sister she hasn’t seen for years. As she moves in Ailsa feels like the house is always watching her. Animals won’t even go near the house and strange things keep happening. When Ailsa confronts the first nighttime intruder she sees that the manors careless rugged beauty could cost her everything. I really liked the main character Ailsa, as all the haunting is going on she is in a long distance relationship that isn’t going well. My only bit I was disappointed at was she didn’t get with one of the other main characters at the end I Think that would have been a nice ending. But it was still an amazing read, it had you guessing all the way through out and wondering where her father was.
