The Missing Years is a real page turner; from the very first time I opened up the book it was very hard to put down.

Ailsa comes to live in The Manse, a large, seemingly haunted house in Scotland which she inherits when her mum dies. Her half-sister joins her to sort things out. As she starts to work through the paperwork she soon discovers that her father, who disappeared when she was only 7 years old, owns half of The Manse and that she has to apply for a presumption of death certificate before she can do anything at all with the house. The Manse seems to have a life of its very own and is determined to make itself heard. In this close knit community someone somewhere knows what happened to her father and where he ended up, which of the many characters is it?

This is a story about going back to your roots, finding out who you really are and facing your fears head on. If you're of the same disposition as me this is not a book to be read too late at night.

I look forward to reading more by Lexie Elliott, she's clearly a great talent!
