I really liked this book, the story was set in the Highlands of scotland and was very atmospheric, a mystery with a hint of the supernatural. The story involves Alisa and her half sister Carrie who come to stay at the manse which was originally Ailsa’s childhood home and where her father disappeared with diamonds from the local jeweller. Alisa is a strong character who deals with the frosty reception by some of the locals because of what they believe her father did, whilst trying to reconnect with Carrie who is an actor working in a play in Edinburgh. This book was very well written and easy to read, I liked how the characters developed through the story and how they all interacted with each other. I felt that some occurrences in the book were not fully explored. I look forward to reading more from this author.
