I loved Lexie Elliott's previous book The French Girl so I was very excited to read this and it didn't disappoint.
From the first few pages I was hooked.
Ailsa returns to her childhood home in the Scottish highlands after her mother dies. Her half sister Carrie joins her and they live in the manse: an old and very dark and unwelcoming house. Ailsa feels like the manse is watching her and she feels scared of it. Things happen inside.....
In the village she makes friends as she tries to find out what happened to her dad who vanished suddenly when she was 7.
As the book progresses, there are lots of twists and turns and even three quarters of the way through the book, I did not know how it would end.
A really gripping and enjoyable book.
