The Missing Years is a book that intrigued me as it sounded like a unique story and different from anything I'd read before. It follows the story of Ailsa after she inherits half of a house from her mother in the Scottish Highlands with the other half belonging to her missing father which she is now unable to sell. I didn't find this story as gripping as I though it might be and ended up become pretty bored early on as nothing much seemed to be happening and it all seemed very drawn out which meant I ended up losing interest but struggled on throughout the long read! I didn't find the characters very appealing and they didn't really leave me wanting things to go well for them which is a shame as it could've been a great story. I think I'd probably give this author another read in the future but this wasn't a book that I think was for me.
