After reading the first impression of this book I couldn't wait to find out what happened next. I really like the style the book is written in, all from Aisla's point of view. I love how each chapter starts with a theory of what has happened to her father, it really shows how the not knowing would mess with her head. I like the way the manse is written as it becomes a character in the book in some ways, creepy but not enough to cause nightmares. I like the relationship between Carrie and Aisla, I think the author really understands the special relationship between sisters. The book was gripping and there were some unexpected twists and turns, however I don't think I quite understand what was going on with the folded time element/ where Callum had come from. I felt quite disappointed at the end as it felt unfinished in the sense that we never really found out what happened to the Dad, and we didn't really find out the history of the Manse or the missing Kirk. I needed a bit more closure! Also the affair that was revealed was written to be quite significant but I didn't really get why or what the significance of the painting was.
