I was looking forward to this book having thoroughly enjoyed The French Girl. The cover of this book is dark ,atmospheric and mysterious which is exactly what the story is.
Ailsa Calder has inherited half of a house in the Scottish Highlands. She returns her childhood home accompanied by her half sister who she doesn't very well
Ailsa feels she is being watched and eventually confronts an intruder.
This is a well written novel which keeps the reader involved and wanting to know what happens. The setting of the Highlands is a perfect match for the story. Ailsa is a sympathetic character.
I was slightly disappointed that I didn't enjoy this book as much as the first but it's worth reading. Lexie Elliott is an author to watch.
