Lexie Elliott is one of my favourite authors after reading The French Girl. The Missing Years is a slow page turning thriller, unlike The French Girl , that was very much straight into the story. Out of the two books I much preferred The French Girl with 304 pages . The Missing Years has 384 pages. This is my own personal point of view but I feel that perhaps that some of the dialogue could have been cut out, nevertheless I did like all the characters within this story. I did feel generally sorry for Ailsa Calder as she live in the Manse in the Scottish Highlands when she was a little girl, but hadn't lived there since her father left twenty seven years ago. Now she is told by a solicitor that she only own half of the house as her father owns the other half. Ailsa can't therefore sell it or rent it out. In the middle of the night Ailsa finds a strange man in her house. Who is he? And what is his excuse for being in the house? Ailsa feels she is in a difficult situation having half a sister and owning half of the house. I do recommend The Missing Years.
