I really enjoyed reading this book. Ailsa has inherited half of a house in Scotland. The other half is owned by her father who disappeared twenty seven years before when she was a young child. She learns that she cannot sell or rent out the house until he is either found or proved dead. From the start she feels uneasy in the house with several unexplained events happening. She invited her much younger half sister to stay with her and the story explores their relationship as they barely know each other. The story is a mixture of supernatural events such as the time folding and those deliberately caused such as the dead animals left near the house. A good ending but I would have liked a bit more detail about the father's death.
