I always think it's a clever piece of writing when an author can make it appear that a setting, such as a house, is another character in the story. This is certainly something that Lexie Elliot does extremely well in the atmospheric The Missing Years. Being from Scotland, the story pulled me in from the outset, and it keeps the reader there for the duration of the book. The story feels both modern and timeless thanks to the style of writing, the construction and development of the characters and the descriptive setting. The preface to the book was extremely enticing, and Elliot does not disappoint with the twists and turns that emerge throughout the novel. This is a wonderful story that would appeal to any demographic of reader and I'd like to read more from this author.
