Right from the start, this book is sure to pull at your heart strings! It will transport you to a super quirky museum in modern Paris where the exhibitions are objects that symbolise broken promises. It's a really clever concept as we can all identify with the idea of something that stands for loss or grief, and the book really delivers on this promise. We discover the history of the owner/curator, Laure, her relationship with a dissident musician and of 1980s' Prague and the world of the cold war. This contrasts with action in contemporary Paris in a striking and interesting way. The decsriptions are really vivid (so you almost feel like you're spending the afternoon in France!) and the characters are interesting too.
