I really thought I would love this book.
I love historical fiction and stories with dual-timelines and have previously enjoyed Elizabeth Buchan's writing. However for some reason this book just did not work for me.
I liked that the story jumped back and forward between three distinct locations and timelines: 1980s Prague, 1990s Berlin and present-day Paris and there was a lot of Cold War history in it.
However I was disappointed that there was not more of a focus on the objects in the museum as I would have really liked to have learnt more about them and their owner's stories
The cover is gorgeous and very striking with the gold objects but again makes me think the focus of the story is going to be on the artefacts rather than the museum's curator.
