The museum of broken things is set in present day however it follows Laura whose story starts in 1985, in 1985 her life is changed something breaks her, however being too painful to talk about and face she leaves it in the past. The in present day this museum which is filled up with broken things, all donated from people who have been broken by something or other in their past lives. It is only when Laura comes to this museum she can face up to what she has been avoiding since 1985.
I love the concept of the Museum of Broken Promises which Laure founds. This is a beautiful, poignant place as people donate a multifarious array of objects large and small, all with their personal stories of broken promises.
