Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed the book, but I felt like it could have been so much better. The book's main character is Laure, a museum curator currently living in Paris. The story begins with discovering the Museum of Broken promises- full of objects that people have donated that represents something that has gone wrong in their past. The story then explores Laure's past, flitting between current day, Prague in the 80s and Berlin 1996. Although I found the history within the novel really interesting and believe the cities were portrayed accurately, there was something that just didn't grip me. I wasn't invested in the love story that weaves throughout the plot and I didn't truly relate to Laura. Because of this, I struggled to fully get into the novel. The concept of the museum was truly poignant and I found this part of the story fascinating, however not a lot of the novel is based around the museum which I was disappointed with. Overall, I think the book was good and I loved parts of it, it just fell short for me.
