The Museum of Broken Promises is a beautiful book to own and the stunning cover has even more meaning once you have read the story within its pages.

Laure is the owner and curator of The Museum of Broken Promises where every object inside has been donated by someone because it represents some loss or pain in their life and by telling their stories some can hopefully begin the healing process.

It was so interesting and at times heartbreaking to read about the items in the museum and the history behind them. The real mystery is that Laure also has objects of her own past on display and we get to discover all about why they are there as we uncover more about her past and how she has got to the place and job she has.

The book time hops back and forth from Paris in the present and Prague in the 1980s. It is a beautifully written book that has clearly been cleverly researched. At times it can be a challenging read if history and politics is not an interest but it is so worth the reward when everything comes together.

It is full of so much passion and emotion not just in the love story that weaves throughout but in how people fought for what they believed in, sometimes at a great cost.

This is definitely one of those books that leaves an impact and lingers inside you well after the last page is turned.
