The synopsis of the book set a high benchmark that the content failed to deliver.
The authors communicates to the reader clearly. I thought the description of the city was amazing. The inclusivity of history with everyday object was captivating. However, the meaning of the book was lost for me. I was confused most of the times. I personally found it a heavy read, huge amounts fo content. The characters felt not needed for me (apart from Laure). I found my self distracted and confused. That lead to forgetting the importance of Laure and her story. I think of a fictional book as an entertaining and informative read. However, the book failed to deliver both. I suppose the book might not be for everybody.
