I really enjoyed this book. There is a sense of place and time that the author creates while taking us from Prague in the 1980's, Berlin in the 90's to present day Paris.

We follow Laure through each of these times and places, all of which brings us closer to and understanding of her present, as curator of the museum of broken promises, including her own broken promise.

I liked this novel a lot, there are passages of pride that are really beautiful and evocative. Laure's inner narrative is written well. The dialogue between characters, though, is clunky at times. The author also needed a better proofreader, as there are typos a-plenty and some fairly obvious continuity errors (Jean Paul becomes Jean Luc on the same page).

It's a good yarn and an enjoyable read.
