The Museum of Broken Promises is a very intense story and covers a period of European history, in Prague 1985 Tomas and Laure meet and then Paris now and the Museum of Broken Promises. It is a very complex storyline when dealing with the political unrest and yet Tomas and Laure’s story is a love story and she still keeps her love for Thomas alive right up to the present day. The Museum is one where people can deposit for a while a memento that has a meaning for the donor.
I thought that this book was going to be interesting and I liked the idea of the museum and I found Laure to be a strong willed character. I also reading about Europe back then... this book would be great for those who enjoy war time novels. I thought the visual asthetic of the book was very beautiful...
However I found the story a bit long winded in parts and at times I felt like skipping a few chapters to get to the end but I persevered and read the whole book.
