I won this through a small giveaway on Instagram. I knew it wasn't my usual type of read but was determined to give it a go regardless. Who doesn't want to broaden their horizons every so often? Get out of that comfort zone, people! ;)
I REALLY tried my best to get into it; I urged myself to enjoy it, to engage, to become engrossed and turn pages like crazy. But it just wasn't there I'm afraid! The writing itself was pretty good and there was nothing at all wrong with the plot or characters. It feels slightly mean to give it such a low rating purely based on it not being my up my alley or my typical genre of choice; but that's how the cards fell this time :(
On the plus side, I passed it onto someone else to read who said they did enjoy it. And I know it's received numerous rave reviews which makes my negative one seem slightly less cruel!
Basically this wouldn't be a bad read if the genre is something you enjoy :)
