Cover first - yes this would leap off the shelves of a bookshop! The dark shapes highlighted with gold very much link to the story.
Alternating between Laure’s Life as a children’s nanny in communist Prague in 1986 and present day Paris where she is the curator of The Museum of Lost Promises this is very evocative. I felt the shifts in time and place were effective, sensitive and powerful. I loved the randomness of items in the museum and the parallel story of the cat which so mirrored Laures emotions.
Having enjoyed Ruth Hogan’s wonderful book The Keeper of Lost Things, I absolutely loved this book and would highly recommend it! It's currently doing the rounds at work and so far everyone loves it!
