Cape Cod in the 1950’s Micheal a 10 year old boy is spending the summer with his mother and Richie. They meet a married couple who soon become friends. Jo is volatile, irrational and suffers from obsessive sexual jealousy. Edward is withdrawn, depressed and becomes besotted with Richie’s frail old aunt Katherine.
