Oh the cover of this is so beautiful and in keeping with the subject matter.
Inside there is some beautiful prose, at times it's very absorbing and moving and an evocative read that really brings it's setting to life.
BUT....it's so languid and slow moving - and that's not always a bad thing in a novel, building a scene and developing character is all well and good, and there are times this novel really did that.....but ultimately it just didn't all come
together as a satisfying read.
Somehow I was left feeling empty and a few days later I'm struggling to remember many passages that have stayed with me beyond it's pages.
There is some lovely snippets here, but ultimatley little substance and it felt quite hollow
