This book captivated me from the cover, it is a lovely story set in the 1950’s and involves Jo and Edward Hopper, they are artists but their temperament and ways are very different from each other.
A young boy called Michael is at Cape Cod with his mother and friend Richie.
Because his mother is troubled and lives inside her own head a lot of the time the boys get let to go and to do as they please as long as they stay out of trouble.
They soon meet up with Jo and Edward and form a kind of friendship between them.
The story moves onwards and explains the relationship between Jo and Edward which is becoming more and more troubled.
It is a lovely book but also hard to read at the same time as can be really sad and you can get rather bogged down by in but I would say it is worth keeping on for the lovely way in which it is written.
