This could be a great story, and it may well be to some, however because the pace is slow going, you find your mind wandering off and end up losing track of where you are in the book.
Maybe the time frame that the story is set in has something to do with this? I don't know, but I felt like I was losing interest too often and in the end I gave up.
From what I read, Michael, the little German orphan, post world war 2, is sent to Cape Cod for the Summer, to stay with some relatives of his adoptive family. He himself has a few quirky behavourial issues, which only present themselves when he is emotional. Exploring the coast line he stumbles upon a married couple, both artists, there for inspiration, and quickly forms a friendship with the wife. The story then unfolds from there, with hidden agendas becoming not so hidden. I'm sure at some point I will eventually pick this book back up again and read through to the ending, however for now, it's not for me.
