If the premise of this book – and its intriguing mention of Gods – hadn’t grabbed my attention then the prologue certainly would have managed to do so. Although only a page long it immediately left me longing to know more. From there the writing felt a bit simpler but not in a bad way; it still contained a few segments that I could easily see being highlighted as quotes yet had a fairly fast feel to it. The world introduced so far with mentions of vampires, curses, Gods, banshees and more has a lot of potential, as well as a hint of unique quirkiness with Silas’ place of work. I have to say I’m intrigued by the potential mysteries of his character too. The impression I’ve got so far leads me to believe that this will end up featuring enemies to lovers too which is definitely another point in this book’s favour – it’s easily my favourite romantic trope. I’ve also loved the books that I’ve read by the author so far so I’m definitely eager to check out the rest of this book.
