I'm not a fan of fantasy book generally, but I thought this one was well laid out introducing the reader to the new world, and new species at a pace that makes it easier to invest in the characters.
There are two strong lead characters - Aria a monster and Silas, a Herald of death - and it will be interesting to see how they interact throughout the rest of the book.
