I must begin by expressing my apologies for having not submitted a review sooner.

I genuinely thought I had, and only realised I hadn't a week or two ago, which prompted me to reread 'The Night Hunt' to offer it a fair review.

This book is a fantasy novel, heavily inspired/influenced by Greek Mythology, initially I found these inspirations a bit jarring, as it was reading a lot like a Greek Mythology mash-up with a simple changing of names and places.

However, I perservered and was glad that I did. Alexandra Christo has written a unique take on mythology, blending monsters, gods, Heralds(angels) with portals and classic Greek mythology to create a book that whilst possibly a bit simplistic at times, was a really interesting read.

The critique I have is that some of the world building is a little shallow, lots of ideas, peoples and places are introduced without a lot of backstory/engagement, but this is made up for by the interesting tale of the monster and the angel who want to overthrow the gods, not for any grandiose reason, but because they feel the gods have wrong them and the others of the world through their machinations.

I whizzed through the book and thoroughly enjoyed it, it was a good fantasy, the lore and mythology was stolen but stolen well, and I probably would have happily read a more adult/detailed book on the same premise quite happily too.
