I should caveat this review by saying that this is not my usual genre and I have mixed feelings about fantasy.
This book is undoubtedly full of interesting characters, with Silas and Atia making for complex and fascinating leads.
However I found it hard to follow at times and I just couldn't get lost in their world, which is a bit of a necessity when reading fantasy.
The tale is told from the dual perspectives of the two main protagonists and I often had to re-refer back to the chapter heading, to be sure of whose story I was reading at that point.
There's also a mysterious back story for them both which vies with the current action and I think it all just became too much for my poor brain to cope with.
However, as previously stated, I'm not the target audience for this book and my feelings about it are likely more to do with me than the quality of the writing.
