This is the first Alexandra Christo book that I have enjoyed and I really hope they keep it as a stand alone book.
I loved both Atia and Silas' characters with the brilliant twist at the end.
Atia is a Nefas, the last of her kind and has been banished from Oksenya, left to roam other kingdoms, feeding on humans inner most fears. Silas is a Herald, a punishment bestowed on him many years ago, he appears when a human is dying, taking them to their final resting place. As a herald he has forgotten everything from his past life and he is desperate to know who he once was and be free to live his life again. Atia accidentally kills a human, is cursed and loses her powers. She wants to get her powers back and together Atia and Silas team up to get what they want. Along the way they make friends and the relationship between Atia and Silas becomes stronger. What they weren't accounting for was the truth behind Silas's punishment and what that means for Atia.
I really enjoyed this story, highly recommend it.
