Brilliant book for young adults who enjoy fantasy novels. Once again Alexander Christo writes about all manner of supernatural beings with imagination and wit. As well as the monsters, magic and mayhem this is an adventure story and a love story and has a very unexpected and surprising twist in the tail. In The Night Hunt Atia is left bereaved and wandering the kingdoms following the death of her parents, She is the last of the Nefas who feed on people's fears. She links up with Sapphir, a vampire who doesn't obey the rules of the Gods who have stated that humans should not be killed by monsters. Atia in human form has a room in a tavern and is much admired by Tristan, the son of the owners. Silas, a Herald who escorts the souls of the recently deceased to the river to be ferried to either the After or the Never enters the story and becomes one of the leading characters along with Atia, Tristan and Cillian, a half banshee they meet at the beginning of their adventure. Extremely well written and very enjoyable. The Night Hunt is written for young adults but will appeal to all lovers of fantasy fiction.
