This initial excerpt from the book is set in 1628. It centres around a young girl called Mayken. I loved mischievous Mayken as I dubbed her from the start. She is full of life even though she doesn’t really know what is ahead for her. I thought the book cover didn’t entice me to read the book but Mayken’s inquisitive personality certainly did. I can’t wait to read the adventures she gets up to on her sea voyage and how it ties into the other storyline set in modern times.
