I'm already loving this. So much atmosphere and detail. I particularly liked the passage 'What else does the Batavia carry?' as I'm a sucker for lists. Mayken is a great character. I like that she's adventurous, asks questions and looks at things slightly differently. Looking forward to finding out what happens when she descends to the Below World of the ship.
