A haunting tale of two children and told in parallel perspectives One from 1629 and the other 1989. A lover of historical fiction, I devoured this one. I found the parallel perspectives powerful and tender and the writer's ability to transport you into the era was brilliantly done. With inspiration of true events, the 1629 story explored the tragedy that took place with emotion and grappling fear. At times I felt the stories could have been more connected as it almost read as separated stories but can't fault the way Kidd experimented with style. The characters were created with precision and the imagery was enough to draw you into the plight and heartache. I found the cover really magical at times and felt The Night Ship to be quite immersive. I recommended if you like historical fiction and alternating perspectives. A great read overall !
