The novel is set in the 1600’s as a young lady is to set sail to meet her father. Not much happens in the sneak peek and the only thing that spiked my interest was about Maykens mum and why they couldn’t tell anyone about the baby.

The narrative was clear and very descriptive which makes it easy to have a clear picture in your head if what being on the boat would be like back in the 1600’s and how class would hinder the type of experience you had.

The characters introduced were likeable and it was easy to understand their roles and also what the class system would seem to mean to them all.

Although the extract is only short I don’t think I would be inclined to buy this book as although the imagery created was done well, there didn’t seem to be much action taken place and my interest was peaked enough with unanswered questions.

Not my initial cup of tea.
