This book was a bit of a slow burner for me and it took me a while to get into it whilst the characters were being established, however once I did manage to get into it I did really enjoy it.
I really enjoyed reading the two timelines and the author made it very easy to follow and switch between the two.
I thought the writing was brilliant and was beautifully descriptive. I really felt immersed in the story. It was so easy to feel the claustrophobia of the ship and the tension between the shipmates onboard.
This isn’t a story I knew anything about and I appreciate the facts that were thrown in with the fiction.
Although I read quite a lot of historical fiction, this book was very different to anything else I have read but I thoroughly enjoyed it and would definitely recommend and will keep an eye out for anything else by this author. It was a 4* read for me!
