This is the story of two children who have two completely different experiences during their childhood. The differences occur mainly because the two youngsters live three hundred and sixty years apart. However despite this large time gap, fate and a common interest have brought them together. As you probably have realised, there is a supernatural twist to this story.
The first child we meet in the book is a Dutch girl named Mayken. She is going on a very long voyage to go and live with her father who she has never met. The year is 1628 and the ship she is about to sail on is on it`s maiden voyage. The second child is a boy named Gil , who is living with his grandfather on a remote island in 1989 . Both children have lost their mothers.
