The first look from the cover was what made me want to look more into this book, first the blurb made me want more.
I needed to know more about how the two stories came together, its not often an author can do this well in one book.
Reading the first look was a dream, it seems that Jess Kid has wrote the chapters alternative on each character to break up their stories, this would work well, keeping the story engaging and wanting more. It could also be a weakness for people skipping chapters.
The different time zones of 1628 and 1989 keeps you interested. From the blurb you can see that the two characters have some similarities with their feelings. A loss of a parent plus both seem to be trying to find their place, this makes the book feel more relatable to the reader as well.
