I found this book very intriguing. It's a step out of my reading comfort zone as I usually don't find myself reading books that take place many years ago. However when executed well I am able to get into these books, and that's what happened with the night ship. Jess Kidd is a very talented author who takes the reader on a journey across two separate time periods, 1929 and 1989. It was interesting to see how the timelines linked in with each other as the book progressed and I always enjoy a book that almost has two separate story lines. I was also pleasantly surprised that this was based on a true story, it's always great to learn something while you read.
I thoroughly enjoyed the magical and whimsical atmosphere created and it made the reading experience very enjoyable, this book acted as a reminder for me to step outside my comfort zone and try reading books I wouldn't typically pick up.
