I have to say I received a copy of this book from elsewhere in proof form but I would hope it is similar to the final published book.
I am familiar with the author and have enjoyed her previous books. I found this one a little hard to enjoy, i'm not sure if its due to the era its set in or maybe the way the story is set on a ship which limits the amount of things that can be described and add to the storyline. The main character is a child, I think this too affects the way the story is written. Its a difficult one as other readers may really enjoy this sort of book but I struggled to 'enjoy' the read which would generally put me off recommending the book to others. However that said I would n't dismiss this book as the author is good and it may purely be personal taste as to whether this book is for you or not. On that basis I would recommend this book to others..
